hlpix "Pre-season over - time to start"
The following is an extract from an article produced by Verwood Town Management (Danny Tabor) for the programme to our first match of the season against Whitchurch and reflecting on the pre-season and season ahead

Darren and I have been working hard on recruitment during the close season to retain some of the key players we brought in last season and to sign some new talented players.

Following all the changes that occurred last season post the management change, the result is we now believe we have a better squad, with more quality than we had at the tail end of last season. We also drew up a pre-season plan alongside (coach) Callum , and despite one in-house game getting called off and a number of lads being missing at times due to holidays etc. training and the friendly matches have gone well with results and performances positive.

We have also retained Goalkeeping coach (Josh) from last season and despite Callum Maher retiring we now have 3 good goal keepers to choose from in Ed, Reece & Tyler.

In terms of targets for the season, we expect the teams in the top half of the league last season to be strong again. We expect newly promoted neighbours Ham Rec to be in that bunch too. Our targets will be to push on and aim for the top half of the table and if we can do that to then try and push for the play offs as the season develops. A tough ask but if Darren and I didn't believe these lads weren't capable of it then we wouldn't dedicate the sheer amount of time to the club that we do.

One ask from us is around sponsorship, if anyone reading this is interested in sponsoring the club, be it players, kit or a board to go around the ground please get in touch. If we are to be successful, sponsorship is a key part of that and one we are keen to progress.
