Another look back while we have no new football to report on ....
30 years ago and a local derby Hampshire League home match against Ringwood Town. An extract from the match programme and our later match report (select programme image to view). With the season close to the finish the result finished 1-1. Verwood and Ringwood went on to finish 5th and 7th in the Hampshire League Division 2 at the end of the season with Winchester City topping the league that year.

"The FA Council has now ratified the decision of our alliance and leagues committees that the 2020-21 league season for steps three to six of the National League System should be curtailed with immediate effect, with no further league matches taking place this season."

It's back 88 years to between the Wars this time. Verwood with a population then around 1,700 (now around 16,000) and with teams playing in both Dorset League Division 3 and the Three Cross League. The results and tables (select image to enlarge) from that weekend!

As previously noted, a limited spectator numbers may now be permitted to matches. For forthcoming pre-season and league games we ask that all spectators note and observe the following :-


• Entrance - Pre-Season £5 (cash only) League Season £6 (cash only)
• All spectators to log their contact details with us for NHS Track and Trace
• Social Distancing to be observed within the Ground (signage will be used to remind people)
• Refreshment Kiosk will be Open (appropriate PPE to be worn by ‘staff’)
• Hand Sanitiser will be available
• Follow our Socially distanced queuing and “one-way” systems for refreshments and ground entry.
• Limited Seating available due to requirements for Social Distancing
• Limited Toilet Facilities will be available
• No Singing or Shouting from the stands to reduce risk of spreading Covid-19
• DO NOT come to any game if you suspect that you have symptoms, are living in a household with possible or actual Covid 19 infection or have been in contact within anyone that is or have been asked to self-isolate.

hlpix Pre-Season (Updated) - An update received from Dorset FA on 4th August now indicates that feeder league clubs (Step 7) pre-season matches now also have to be played behind closed doors. For clarification, at present this means that all Verwood Town pre-season matches will be 'behind closed doors' (No spectators)

hlpix Pre-Season - at the current time, adherence to current FA and Government Covid-19 guidelines means that matches played at National League Step 5/6 grounds (includes both Sydenhams Wessex Divisions) must be played "Behind Closed Doors". Beyond Step 6 it is at the discretion and control of the home team.
League Season - With the expectatioon of a September start to the league season, the initial September Division One fixtures were issued, these have now been updated to include fixtures up to the end of the year
