20-Dec-08 Monday 29th December - At 17.30 hours the young vets will take over the mantle of representing the quality side of the past in a football extravaganza. The odd ball will be the appearance of Adie Arnold. Anyway the ‘older vets’ will be judge and jury of the quality of the young pretenders with suitable comments being made in the Sporting Club after the game. It will cost a fiver each. We will be carefully vetting Steve Richards who Steve Tubbs reckons hasn't cut his toenails in three years to stop him getting to the bar to pay for a round.
Players from the second Team will be at the ground at 17:00 hrs, the Old Boys will start arriving the day before to get ready !
See you there???????????

05-Nov-08 Headline ImageHomepage Headline - "Feisty Fightback Just Fails to Deliver"
Trailing 0-3 at half-time, conceeding another goal in the second, and having the ball in the net twice only to be disallowed led us to believe it wasn't our night. However, the team failed to submit, and a barnstorming finish saw Verwood close the gap late to 3-4. If only for a few more minutes? [BR] [Picture] Steve Reeves (Verwood)

11-Oct-08 Headline ImageHomepage Headline - "Portsmouth Pile on the Agony ..and injuries add to the woe"
League leaders United Services Portsmouth come away with a 5-2 win at Potterne Park to maintain their unbeaten record. A 5 goal first half with Portsmouth taking an early lead before two goals from Dan Goodall saw Verwood back in front. Portsmouth then grabbed two before the break to go in 3-2 up. The lead was extended in the second half as injuries and a Verwood sending off began to take their toll.

A Matt Newbery goal puts Verwood level immediately after going behind in the first half. Redlynch score again before the half closes and add another to go 3-1. A Chris Lynch goal in the last 10 provides hope and all out attack is ordered. However, it's Redlynch & Woodfalls who add another to kill the game.
25-Sep-08 Work to install new stands to begin soon. Shortly (and of course weather permitting!) work will start on the base's for the installation of two new stands at Potterne. These will compliment the existing structures providing an additional 50 seats and new spaces for wheelchair users. It has been made possible through a grant of £15,000 from the Veolia Environmental Trust awarded through the Landfill Communities fund, and from the club's own contribution. This will bring the club up to required Football Association standards and provide added cover and comfort for spectators. :-) Executive boxes and 5 star dining experience may follow

...or at least that's what we thought might have happened to East Cowes Victoria as their arrival is delayed, and we kick some one and a half hours late. As it turned out, it was Verwood who were shipwrecked losing 0-3 at home.

A visit to the Division 1 pacesetters Blackfield and Langley, who had a 5 win 100% record, and had scored 11 with only 1 against (and none against at home) so far this season.
