Match Report Merley Cobham vs Verwood Town 27-Jul-24
PRE-SEASON
SATURDAY 27TH JULY 2024
MERLEY COBHAM 5 VERWOOD TOWN 0
Our last friendly of this close season gave our Jekyll and Hyde character’s a chance to surface again.
A couple of good results under our belts from the last two friendlies carried us into what’s becoming an annual event against Merley Cobham.
We would have been better staying at home. The malady struck.
The opening spell was evens in terms of possession, but we wilted and gave Merley an opportunity to dominate play. As the half wore on our passing lost its edge and Merley went ahead with a few minutes left of the half. 0-1.
Half Time. 0-1
We couldn’t pick up pace nor perform defensively as we did in the first half. Within ten minutes we gave space and opportunity for Merley to notch a second.
Our performance went from bad to worse. Merley notched a third as we allowed them corridors both through the middle and on the flanks. We didn’t have any retaliatory spirit and consequently suffered a final score line of 0-5 as the whistle blew on a game best forgotten.
A week away from our first league game of the season means a couple of hard training training sessions to get our Mojo back.
Result. 0-5.
