We had heads still in the dressing room at the start of this league fixture against promotion favourites Hamworthy Rec. We suffered because of it.

6 minutes on the clock and two goals down !!! A dream start for the home side and a chance of a record score line.

It could have been another quick couple of goals against as HR pressed making Mitchell the busiest man on the park. Danvers and Flachi blocked a couple of runs on the flanks but were outnumbered as the home side pushed on.

Middle of he park belonged to HR. Defensively HR snuffed us out. It made for one way traffic.

An inevitable third goal came on 27 minutes followed a minute later with a simple tap in on the far post making it 0-4.

We survived the rest of the half without further need for the score board to change.

The dressing room was heated but the message clearly understood.

Our first real shot of the game came from White’s effort with a minute gone. It whistled wide but sparked a come back.

McHale fed by Danvers drifted past his marker but then chopped down for a free kick. A scramble in the box finished with a long clearance. Smith won a heading duel sending Davis away on the right. A good cross gave Whitelaw a chance but the side netting was the recipient of his shot.

Hamworthy’s dominance in the first half was replaced by a defensive block. There was nothing they could do though on 20 minutes as we pressed into the area. McHale and Whitelaw had shots blocked before the keeper was finally beaten by deflection making it 1-4.

We should have had a second a minute later but a Davis cross was palmed out from under the bar. Broad followed with a shot bring out a good save by the keeper.

Buggey came on for Whitelaw with 12 minutes left and slipped the ball past the keeper with 5 left. 2-4.

We tried hard to grab another but HR held out to take the three points.

Result 2-4
