Andover had first crack at goal with a move down the right and a good cross met on the run with the ball hitting the post and cleared by Broad. A quick counter finished with Brazier clipping the ball over defenders just outside the box and finding Ferguson who put the ball high and wide.

Richardson and Davis did well in the middle forcing Andover’s play to the flanks. A versatile Smith at left back was well in control of his opposite number whilst Broad was equally as effective at right back.

We were showing a much more energetic display than last week but passing yet again left a lot to be desired. Movement wasn’t as slick as it could have been, and we left space for Andover to flourish.

With 35 minutes on the clock we lapsed concentration. A deep cross from the right found an unmarked runner and a header flew past Mitchell to make it 0-1.

We rallied but didn’t have a cutting edge in front of the sticks.

Half Time 0-1.

Then came a frustrating second half as we gave the ball away too many times allowing Andover more control.

We had a much better approach than we had last week. The work ethic to win back possession was excellent.

Andover pushed hard bringing the best out of our defence with Pope and Davis holding their opposite numbers in check.

We continued though with erratic passing causing extra effort in claiming back the ball.

Frustration was evident as we reached 90 minutes and being denied a goal by the post and shots going wide.

90 + 7 the ref raising his whistle for the end of the game was interrupted by a ball pumped into the Andover box again but this time finding Richardson in a small space. It was enough a right foot volley whipped past the keeper into the roof of the net giving us a draw 1-1.

Andover were miffed having just seen 2 extra points disappear whilst we were happy to come away having earned a point.

Result 1-1.
