New signing Lee-Brad Haensel almost celebrated his first goal for the Club with a strike in the first 5 minutes that whistled past the keeper but also just past the post.

Clanfield responded with a move down their right winning a corner. A post was the recipient fortunately and a Danvers boot cleared the danger.

Good football was enjoyed by a reasonable crowd although this actually looked very sparse in the large Havant & Waterlooville Ground in which Clanfield groundshare. For a chunk of the first half Clanfield had the slight advantage on possession.

As the half progressed, McHale, Shepherd and McWilliams made impact and Shepherd particularly shared his shirt and shorts with defenders.

Clanfield’s counters were dangerous, Mitchell was on form though and was a major contributor to a 0-0 half time score line.

Jack Broad came on for an injured Dave Kerr and was soon involved in helping to curb an aggressive attacking spell from the home team.

Ollie Lowes dented Clanfield’s hopes with a typical strike. A Sam Danvers invasion of Clanfield’s third and a low cross was caught on the half volley from the edge of the box 1-0.

The ball had hardly done a hundred yards from the re start when Shepherd caught it on the volley. 2-0.

A short spell in our box was cleared up by Cam Smith. A good wide ball found McHale and a daisy cutter had the keeper beaten but shaved the post.

Aidan Shepherd hammered our third from an Ollie Lowes through ball. We should have had a fourth had it not been for a size twelve clearing the ball out of the 6 yard box denying McWilliams a chance of increasing our score line.

The game took a feisty turn, resulting in a Clanfield player getting a Red.

A good performance rewarded with 3 points.
