Our last friendly of this pre season paired us with Dorchester Sports who had a good mix of experienced and young players pitching at promotion from their DPL division.

Holidays and work kept some of our players away from the game but we had a good squad all eager to play.

Sports attacked from the whistle. A ball wide to their right gave space for a runner but Mason matched the pace and a strong shoulder to shoulder won the ball.

Lench caught the eye with a good run on the right and a classic cross was inches away from being diverted by Rosster’s head into the net.

Football was on the deck and we looked the better side as the game progressed.

15 minutes gone though and we left space on the flank for a cross field ball to find a runner. A left foot volley gave Disson no chance 0-1.

The game meandered for a while but the half finished with Sports ahead 0-1.

Our usual tight defence lacked its cover and we came under pressure for a while as Sports used a longer ball game to free up runners.

We rallied and with Hall and Kerr stamping authority in midfield pushed Sports’ defence into deep defence.

Mason went close with a run and shot but hit the side netting. McWilliams steamed through but again shot wide.

29 minutes gone and Storey made an entry in place of McWilliams.

Sports had a flurry of attacks but Tabor and Smith were on their game preventing hopeful breaks into our box.

Reece Mitchell gave a very confident goalkeeping display picking up anything that crept through.

We pushed Sports back in the last 20 minutes and almost camped in their box. We couldn’t put the ball in the net though. That is until on 43 minutes Cam Smith came up for a corner and volleyed an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Result. 2-1
