Match Report Verwood Town vs Wimborne Town 19-Jul-14

PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY
SATURDAY 19TH JULY 2014
VERWOOD TOWN 0 WIMBORNE TOWN 1

Three games in five days. A gruelling run but very welcome.

A few more changes were needed and James Collins stepped up to take the gloves off Chris Lynch. Josh Bud came in at left back and Ben Satterley starting.

Kris Anderton partnered Cormack while Fisk and Lovell continued their job up front. Tom Whelan and Russell Dyer made up the mid field along with Chas Gajic.

Wimborne were out of the blocks immediately and Molyneaux luckily had his mind on the game to stop a central break.

Evans intercepted a cross field ball and going wide released Satterley. A crunching tackle stopped Satterley in his tracks and a counter attack was sprung on the left. Bud closed down the runner and a great tackle blocked the intended cross.

Collins went high to collect a dipping cross and then Gajic was in the thick of it as the game continued at a fair pace.

Satterley worked the ball through the middle and an intelligent through ball released Lovell. Lovell's cross landed well for Fisk to try his luck but the shot went wide of the post.

Anderton and Cormack had a good understanding and not much went past them centrally.

Dyer engineered an attack down the right working the ball with Evans. The end result was a cross that Lovell was inches short of diverting into the net.

26 minutes and Wimborne pressure finally paid off as the ball ping ponged about and a half clearance dropped nicely for a shot from the edge of the box to nestle in the bottom corner. 0-1.

Fisk almost had us level with a good shot that inched past the post and then Lovell headed over from close in.

Wimborne hit a high clearance into our area. Anderton got underneath it and a powerful header found Whelan. A great pass to Fisk allowed a shot from 20 yards but yet again the net went untroubled.

Collins had to make a headed clearance from a break but there were no more goals to alter the score line.

Half Time 0-1.

On came Cousins Elysee and Foster for the start of the second half with Fisk Satterley Evans taking a break.

Elysee to Dyer. Dyer on to Gajic, a return ball and Dyer slung a terrific cross into the box, Unfortunately no one was there to touch home.

Wimborne retaliated with a move centrally but the very much on form Cormack cut across to make an excellent tackle.

Molyneaux got underneath a high ball into the box and Gajic threw a leg across a shot to deflect it away from the area.

We looked a bit shell shocked but it was noticeable that the spirit in the side was buoyant and collectively looked a good unit.

A well worked move down our right left Dyer with room and a cross shot went inches wide of the post.

Lynch pinched the gloves from Collins and made a great save as we fell asleep at the back. A second flying save resulted in Gajic rousing the troops.

Whelan was industrious ably assisted in his push on goal by Dyer. Lovell benefitted from one break finding himself with space just inside the area. A low shot went wide.

Lynch punched clear a high ball dropping into the sixyard box and then Molyneaux headed off the penalty spot.

Cormack took the ball cleanly in a sliding tackle and released Elysee. A run down the left and a deep cross found Lovell steaming in but his header was well taken.

Dyer was still in the thick of things as we neared the end of the game. A good strong tackle gave us possession and quick thinking released Lovell. A golden chance but which went by as the ball finished up in the keeper's hands.

5 minutes left and Lynch took a high ball in the box. A long clearance and there was Satterley to break free and try his luck. The ball blazed inches over the bar.

Wimborne's response was a run down their left and a low cross was hammered wide.

It was a good finish to a good friendly benefitting both sides.

Result 0-1
