DORSET PREMIER LEAGUE
SATURDAY 10TH OCTOBER 2026
VERWOOD TOWN 1 DORCHESTER SPORTS 1

A good game to be involved in. Good pace, marking and now and then, flair.

Within minutes of the whistle both ends had seen activity. Keepers tested and defences challenged. Both benches on Diazepam.

We looked more solid than of recent games with Best Joyce Pope and Penn matching their opposite numbers and Wallis showing good hands and positional sense.

This game produced more “on the deck” football and gave both team’s midfield players, a chance to enjoy the game instead of stiff necks.

DS had first dibs on corners earning the first of many in the 4th minute. Best won this one clearing the area and setting up Colarelli for a run on the left. A cross was cleared upfield and it was then Penn’s turn to block a shot as DS retaliated.

The game continued to enjoy play at both ends and then on 15 minutes Howe put a half chance in the back of net. 1-0.

DS, stung by the deficit, hit back giving Wallis a busy period.

10 to go and Mckinlay almost made it two with a cracking shot bring out a great save by the DS keeper.

Half Time 1-0

The whistle blew twice in 30 seconds. Once to kick off and the second to confirm DS centre forward offside.

The half continued to produce attacking intent from both side but also a growing aggressive style to win.

12 gone and a DS corner swung high across the box. This time we left a player unmarked and suffered the result. A header on the far post, 1-1.

Tackles became a bit stronger involving both Physios. Our Lourdes spray did the job keeping Kerr and McKinlay in the game.

Midfield tussles and tight marking gave rise to the odd handbag exchange.

38 gone and McKinlay made way for Banwell.

The game went to 49 minutes with a continued push by both teams to grab a winner.

For spectators it led to a good finish with a 1-1 result.
