SHERBORNE TOWN RESERVES 3 VERWOOD TOWN 1
It was a much better performance against high flyers Sherborne but yet again we failed to capitalise in front of goal.
20 minutes was a defining goal from Sherborne caused through a concerted period of Verwood attacking play but being caught pushing too far up and leaving the opportunity for Sherborne to counter and produce a goal. 0-1.
Another sustained period of possession with ten minutes left saw the Sherborne bar rattled a couple of time and a couple of good saves from the home keeper.
Half Time. 0-1
The second half saw a more aggressive Sherborne approach but an equal stronger rally from Verwood produced a good game for spectators.
Shooting quality was well off. Three Verwood strikes hit the post and solid defending from Sherborne provided a defensive wall that did the job and deflecting on target shots wide of goal.
All bench players got a few minutes in the last quarter but couldn’t alter the inevitable result.
Two opportune strikes from Sherborne and a Verwood headed goal by Dave Kerr finished the scoring at 1-3.
Result 1-3
