Match Report Verwood Town vs Bournemouth Sports 22-Nov-25
DORSET PREMIER LEAGUE
SATURDAY 8TH NOVEMBER 2025
VERWOOD TOWN 1 BOURNEMOUTH SPORTS 3
Despite heavy rain all day the Ref decided the pitch playable.
It was a scrappy start, nothing like the quality of Tuesday night’s encounter with Sturminster Newton in the County Cup.
Ahmou, deputising for the holidaying Knibbs was tested by a dipping shot from the edge of our box as Sports pushed us back.
A good counter involving two new signings Ford and Green forced a corner that Sports cleared from inside the penalty box.
The game see-sawed end to end but the conditions were getting worse as the rain swept down.
A very heavy tackle took Ford off his feet, and the damage was severe. A substitution was needed so Craciun went on for a one for one. 21 minutes gone.
Armou was floored with 7 minutes left in taking a high ball under pressure. On came Physios Jon and Samantha again.
Sports gained a corner on 42 and an inswinger was forced over the line 0-1
Half Time. 0-1
We started the second half on the attack with Barton and Franklyn linking on the left. A deep cross was intercepted and cleared.
Bournemouth Sports direct play was benefitting the visitors in keeping the ball off a heavy pitch.
Although we had a spell of play in Bournemouth Sports third we couldn’t convert opportunities unlike Sports retaliatory strike with a bundled ball over the line. Dispute on whether a foul was committed in forcing the ball past the keeper was dismissed so Sports went 0-2.
32 we changed the score board tally from a corner in a melee causing the keeper to spill the ball into the net. 1-2.
On 39 Sports claimed a third from a hotly disputed offside break where two players broke away and although spectators all claimed a glaring offside the flag stayed down.
The score board reflected 1-3.
We had a couple of opportunities towards the final whistle but Sports claimed the points.
Result. 1-3
