Match Report Verwood Town vs Hamworthy Rec Reserves 06-Sep-25
DORSET PREMIER LEAGUE
SATURDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER 2025
VERWOOD TOWN 0 HAMWORTHY RECREATION RESERVES 1
Frustration and disappointment best describe the performance and result of this fixture.
The first five minutes determined the three points heading into Ham Recs coffers. A sleepy Verwood start compared to a bright Ham Rec allowed the visitors to go ahead with an angled shot skidding into the bottom corner. 0-1.
We continued on the back foot for a period but gradually ground our way back into contention.
Gray and Mayo went close to levelling the score line but Ham Rec’s defensive shield proved sufficient to keep them ahead.
Danvers and Matthews overlapping runs, finishing with crosses into the box, should have yielded but again a blunt attack went in at half time without a dent in Ham rec;s armoury.
Half Time. 0-1
The second half kicked off with a Verwood corner forced on the right. A deep cross found Mayo but his header went the way of previous headers, high and wide.
Pushing up almost cost a second for Ham Rec but Beck displayed good hands clawing a dipping shot away from danger.
Chances came and went as we had the larger part of possession. Ham Rec continued with a stoic resistance.
We continued to push up throughout the half giving opportunities for counters. Pope and Harvey covered central areas while Danvers and Matthews shuttled on the flanks. Not too many breaks tested Beck.
The whistle went on disappointment with a blank ‘goals for’.
Result. 0-1
