Match Report AFC Aldermaston vs Verwood Town 08-Mar-25
VELOCITY WESSEX LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
SATURDAY 8TH MARCH 2025
AFC ALDERMASTON 2 VERWOOD TOWN 1
We experienced a carbon copy of last week’s first half with the exception of the score line.
Good possession, reasonable passing quality but miserably failing to put the ball in the net.
Aldermaston's shots were limited because defensively we were quite solid.
In the first ten minutes both Pope and Weardon made space for shots on goal. Pope's effort went high and wide, Weardon's was on target but down the keeper's throat.
Other woeful shots were either wide or easily defended.
Half Time 0-0
5 minutes gone and pressure from a rejuvenated Aldermaston paid off with a half chance whipping past Dinnivan giving Aldermaston the lead. 0-1.
We then experienced Déjà vu. The second half tailing off in terms of passing quality and a lack of ideas.
Aldermaston enjoyed space and time on the ball.
Management endured a frustrating 45 minutes
Management endured a frustrating 45 minutes but close to the end Matt Pope grabbed one back to make the score line 1-1. It was a glimmer of hope for at least a point and we continued to push forward.
...but in the last minute Aldermaston picked up the three points claiming their second of the game with a simple smash and grab. 1-2.
Result. 1-2
