Match Report Ringwood Town vs Verwood Town 14-Dec-24

VELOCITY WESSEX LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
SATURDAY 14TH DECEMBER 2024
RINGWOOD TOWN 3 VERWOOD TOWN 2

A good game for the unbiased. Both teams playing attacking football and few field visits for the Physios.

A rejuvenated Verwood should have been two up in the first 5 minutes but a charmed Ringwood goal and a packed area kept a blank sheet. Both Padmore and Miller went close but couldn’t affect the score board.

Ringwood retaliated with good movement testing our defence without success.

12 minutes had elapsed of pressure in the Ringwood half and a just reward for the energetic Brazier resulted in a well taken goal putting us ahead. 1-0.

Despite an enforced shuffle of the squad due to work patterns and injuries the side gelled well and carried the game to the home side.

29 minutes gone and we paid the penalty of pushing too far up and leaving space for a retaliatory strike. 1-1.

A carbon copy with a minute to go to half time…1-2.

Half Time. 1-2
At the re start Brazier made way for Grzybowski to have a run, with a tweak on positioning.

Ringwood’s opening spell was fast and direct. Fletcher Kerr and Bignell took it in turns to clear aerial activity

Wearden and Lordache making their debuts showed up well and a growing understanding was evident as we pushed on.

Richardson made way for Dilnot on a one for one after 6 minutes.

Ringwood picked up pace but with no impact on our defence. Lordache brought a great save from the Ringwood keeper as we countered another Ringwood attack. It was Diazepam time for the Ringwood bench. Dilnot had a shot whistle just wide and Padmore hit the side netting with a great run and shot.

33 minutes and Bignell climbed higher than the opposition to nod the ball into the top corner 2-2.

It made way for a grandstand finish. Ringwood went close a couple of times and we also hit the side netting and agonised as a goal line clearance denied us a third.

5 minutes left and Ringwood broke on their left. A run across the box and a low shot made it 2-3.

48 minutes on came Knott for Miller.

Caution to the winds. We went for the equaliser…52 minutes gone and the whistle gave Ringwood 3 points.

Result 2-3.
