A carbon copy of our Tuesday performance. Good start poor finish.

Amesbury’s early pressure was soaked up and counter attacks should have been converted. Again opportunities in and around the box went wide.

An Amesbury right flank counter was stopped by a strong Kerr tackle.. A good line ball found Grzybowski but his angled shot went wide.

It was cut and thrust. A high ball into our box was chased down. Fletcher won the challenge and released Hamm with a great through ball. The line’s offside flag prevented us going in front.

Rodriguez was prominent with good cover as Amesbury switched play. Mitchell provided a safe backstop as we pushed on.

Whitelaw hit the side netting and goal line clearances by Amesbury’s defence meant the team’s going in at half time level pegging.

Half Time 0-0

A dreadful reaction to the half time break resulted in a goal for Amesbury with only a couple of minutes on the clock. It followed an Amesbury brisk start, 3 corners and a free header a couple of feet off the goal line. 0-1.

Passing deteriorated and Amesbury’s possession was guaranteed as we constantly forfeited the ball.

A life line on 20 minutes. A NASA type ball into our third was returned to Amesbury’s third by a Pope size 12. Hamm chasing down flustered a defender and a header back to the keeper sailed nicely over his head and gently rolled in to the net. 1-1.

23 minutes McGinty came on to let Whitelaw get splinters.

We had a couple of minutes with the ball and then went back our charitable ways. Amesbury enjoyed being handed back possession and on 26 minutes a typical high ball whipped over our back line leaving a runner to make it 1-2.v 39 minutes and Grzybowksi made way for Buggey.

The game became scrappy. It was as though both had run out of steam and were happy to meander until the whistle. We lost this game with our visitors scoring all three goals !!!!
