Match Report Totton & Eling vs Verwood Town 14-Sep-24
VELOCITY WESSEX LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
SATURDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER 2024
TOTTON & ELING 1 VERWOOD TOWN 0
A less than average performance and again failures up front to put the ball in the net meant 3 points for Totton & Eling.
T&E’s efforts were lacklustre but they did nod the ball past Mitchell in the second half to give their dressing room the opportunity to demonstrate their boom box decibel levels.
We had the ball in the net after ten minutes but a linesman’s flag (linesperson for the woke’s) flapped in the breeze to indicate offside. The referee upheld the decision to stop any celebrations.
Danvers and Pope had a couple of efforts sailing wide and Whitelaw put a shot high over the bar that would have been the envy of Totton Rugby Club.
Half Time. 0-0
Team talks in both dressing rooms had no affect. The game meandered without much purpose. Mitchell’s handling again was excellent when needed, Ferguson and Fletcher stood out in their respective positions, whilst up front we made lots of chances but no one to add the clinical touch called a goal.
A spark in Totton’s play gave Kerr & John a chance to shine but overall the quality on the day was the equivalent a cocoa and diazepam cocktail.
A stooping header (probably a trip) in the box slipped past Mitchell to end a day best forgotten.
It was fitting that the lads had a cracking night out following the game that could have qualified as a wake.
Result 0-1
