As expected Fawley were out of the blocks quickly and within a a couple of minutes had tested Ferguson and White’s aerial abilities. Nothing got through.

We countered on the break and Hockey went close with a shot clearing the outcoming keeper and but falling just outside the post. The best chance of the game so far.

Our quality on the night was a million miles away from last Saturday’s performance and we strung together some good attacking play.

Kay and Pope were on top of their opposing numbers and with Danvers and Kerr attacking on the flanks we should have gone ahead with a couple of efforts but agonised as we clipped the post and then fired into the side netting.

The half finished with clean sheets.

Few in goal had safe hands in the first minutes taking a good catch from an inswinger, but it was a night when we had the tenacity to hit back quickly.

Brazier Whitelaw and Hockey proved a handful form the Fawley defence but although breaking through a few times we couldn’t put the ball past the keeper.

Richardson came on for Pope, Buggey replaced Brazier and Grzybowksi swapped his splinters spot with Whitelaw. The changes had Fawley on the back foot but they survived the game without the score board altering.
