Match Report Totton & Eling vs Verwood Town 30-Apr-24
VELOCITY WESSEX LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
TUESDAY 30TH APRIL 2024
TOTTON & ELING 0 VERWOOD TOWN 3
Inconsistencies — dumped. Bad Start to games — binned. Up for it ?? — 100%.
Our last game of the season and a desire to do well.
Attitude was spot on and from the whistle an attacking frame of mind drove the game
A slight shuffle of formation gave insight into the flexibility the squad now offers with the first goal on 23 minutes coming from Sam Danvers steering the ball off a Totton boot. 1-0.
Totton reacted with a flurry of attacks but on the day they were snuffed out by a solid defence. Mitchell again was on form with excellent handling.
We pressed constantly. White went close with a low shot from the edge of the area and McHale powered a volley over the bar from a narrow angle before Danvers clinched the score board change.
Smith and Davis complemented by in form Kerr and Danvers provided a brick wall so Mitchell could use his Sun Bed.
Half Time 1-0
Jamie Kay continued to be front line provider with an excellent 90 minutes. Jack Broad should have had his name on the score sheet from a Kay defence splitting pass but the keeper managed to palm his shot away from the top corner. Only ten minutes had gone of the half.
Then Matt Pope showed the way rising like a legless Gazelle above the Totton defender’s and powering a header into the roof of the net. 2-0.
Callum Whitelaw and Joe White went close benefitting from chances created by Callum’s McHale as we remained with the lions share of possession.
Harrison Whitelaw coming on for Joe White finished the scoring with a great goal five minutes before the whistle. 3-0.
A good overall performance and a fitting end to the season.
Result. 3-0
