Match Report Ringwood Town vs Verwood Town 27-Apr-24
VELOCITY WESSEX LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
SATURDAY 27TH APRIL 2024
RINGWOOD TOWN 1 VERWOOD TOWN 1
Both teams mid table with only bragging rights to play for. A good first half with both teams attacking.
Ringwood’s early threats were snuffed out by a resolute Verwood defence and very much on form Mitchell. A couple of shots crept through for Mitchell to cope with, but we gradually gained possession and should have celebrated an early goal from a McHale angled shot. The keeper’s handling was exemplary, and we had to wait for a Joe White special to put us ahead. 1-0.
Broad went close with a pile driver and Harrison Whitelaw hit a volley just wide before Ringwood broke through to level the score with only a few minutes left to play.
Half Time. 1-1
The second half was a cure for insomniacs. Ringwood’s attacking play moved to keeping the ball in the air. Pope Smith and Davis’ qualities at heading tennis became very useful. Unfortunately we tended to follow suite and spectators learned how to cope with local drones.
Danvers’ overlapping play almost paid dividends with ten minutes left when breaking free from the full back Danvers screwed the ball back from the bye line and hit a low cross into the box. The shot from White deserved a second goal but a good save from the keeper left the game with each team earning a point.
Result 1-1
