Aldermaston’s recent results gave rise for the need to be extra alert from the kick off. So it proved.
Flachi cut out a deep cross and then McHale blocked a shot on the edge of the box as Aldermaston went for an early goal. Mitchell was on top of his game as we weathered pressure.
Hockey provided the turning point on 25 minutes with a chip over an advancing keeper putting us ahead 1-0.
Broad almost made it two with a dipping shot just clearing the bar. At the other end the combination of Pope Davis and Ferguson proved a defensive shield hard to break down.
The whistle went as McHale slipped past a defender and delivered a low cross for Whitelaw to bring a good save from the keeper.
Half Time 1-0
Hockey again settled nerves with a classic second rounding his marker in the box and putting the ball in the bottom corner. 2-0.
We settled. Good football followed with the threat of a third on the cards. Kay engineered a couple of chances before Callum Whitelaw broke away on the edge of the box to hammer the ball into the top right hand corner of the net, 3-0.
Hockey, stung by someone stealing his limelight whipped in the fourth and his hat trick with ten minutes left.
A token attack from Aldermaston was handled by Mitchell and his play out of the back prompted a chance for Harrison Whitelaw, no mistake, 5-0.
A good solid performance gave us a well deserved three points.
Result 5-0.
