A revitalised New Milton hosted this return league game at Fawcett’s Field. Because of heavy rain over the week end the game had to be changed from Tuesday night to Wednesday night.

From the kick off New Milton pushed on and when 10 minutes only had elapsed they were awarded a penalty. Although hotly contested, it stood. Mitchell came into his own with a great save to keep the score board showing zeros.

3 minutes later Jack Broad broke into the box and hammered in a great goal putting us ahead. 1-0.

Another three minutes gone and New Milton broke and lobbed in an equaliser. 1-1.

Our hosts, tails up began testing our back four. Some good defending was needed and a Pope Smith combination in the middle did a great job stitching up central access.

Danvers and Flachi were solid and as we gained more possession were able to join in attacks on the flanks.

McHale went close with ten minutes left, hitting the side netting and at the other end Mitchell again was on top of his game.

Half Time. 1-1.

The second half began with New Milton pressing. Midfield was contested hotly with Brazier coming out on top.

We responded well. Whitelaw had a shot saved from under the bar and McHale fired just over the top with an angled shot from the edge of the area.

New Milton always looked dangerous on the break but we held tight and the game finished with both side having to settle for a point each.
