After a stunning performance at Whitchurch Wednesday night our Jekyll and Hyde problem struck with a vengeance.

The same team that did so well against Whitchurch slumped against Aldermaston.

There were no niceties in the visitors display. Defence wellied any ball in the box and up front willing runners chased anything remotely looking like a ball dropping in our third.

We camped outside the Aldermaston box for a while but proved to be totally inept in front of the sticks.

Aldermaston pulled players back to form a blanket defence and we helped considerably in passing the ball to them inside the area.

47 minutes played and a classic long ball out of Aldermaston’ defence dropped for a runner to smash an angled shot Into the bottom corner. 0-1

Half Time 0-1

For some inexplicable reason we couldn’t get ourselves sorted. It was frustrating to see so many chances popping up but not being converted. Again, it was poor finishing with many many chances.

Then it looked like salvation as Matt Davis stepped up to stroke the ball past the keeper making it 1-1. 18 minutes gone.

Could we now turn the game ?? No.

We continued to throw chances away and suffered with 16 minutes left by pushing up and leaving gaps at the back. We were caught out by a typical clearance and runner 1-2.

Aldermaston did well running the clock down but it was our own fault we didn’t get 3 points instead of none on the day.

Result 1-2.
