The squad was ravaged with Injuries, Holidays and Work Patterns. Luckily the quality was still available to meet East Cowes Vics on the Island.

A quick start for ECV meant Mitchell in action within the first few minutes but we were more attentive in this game than in the last couple preventing early shocks.

ECV’s attacking flair gave room for a counter and McWilliams almost stole the lead from a free kick resulting from a foul on the edge of he area.

Davis made a telling tackle with 25 minutes gone but suffered a groin strain and had to come off.. Jack Warburton went one for one. ECV enjoyed slightly more possession than us in the half but we looked solid at the back and Mitchell added confidence with good anticipation and handling.

The half closed without a score board change.

Half Time. 0-0

A good opening saw Danvers making an early forage into ECV’s third but the cross was won in the box by ECV defenders.

Richardson made ground with 5 minutes gone but was chopped down 30 yards out. McWilliams took the free kick but defenders had funnelled back blocking the ball on the line.

30 minutes gone and a challenging decision made by the ref gave ECV a penalty following a Richardson tackle just inside the box. 0-1.

We had a few chances in the remaining minutes but Shepherd McWilliams and Bennett will all wonder why they didn’t add their names on the score sheet.
