Match Report Verwood Town vs Romsey Town 18-Feb-23
WESSEX LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
SATURDAY 18TH FEBRUARY 2023
VERWOOD TOWN 0 ROMSEY TOWN 2
Romsey put themselves in the driving seat after only ten minutes. A break through in the middle of the park gave space and a shot from the edge of the box gave Romsey the lead 0-1.
We started well with Joe Smith forcing a good save from the keeper and then Jake Carswell firing over the bar from 18 yards. An immediate counter brought about the Romsey goal.
Our passing and control wasn’t as good as it usually is and we gave away the ball too frequently.
Mason fed Farndell on 20 minutes but a topped shot was easily gathered. The game see-sawed. Incidents at both ends followed but we had no further score board activity before the half time whistle.
Half Time. 0-1
The second half had a marked improvement on passing quality but both teams were short on finish.
Early in the half we had a slight edge on possession and should have reduced arrears but shots were either just wide or straight down the keepers throat.
Half way through the half we gave ground to Romsey that resulted in a corner. The inswinger wasn’t covered properly and we went 0-2.
Passing became a problem but we soldiered on. In the last ten minutes we carried the game to Romsey and although earning a couple of free kicks and corners failed to hit the back of the net.
Result 0-2.
