From an excellent performance against Downton we suffered the Jekyll and Hyde syndrome against Ash Utd.

We had a good squad and a good start.

Progression into the Ash third pinned the hosts and we should have gone ahead when breaking their defensive barrier a couple of times but fired blanks.

A rare attack gave Phillips his first touch after 11 minutes. We continued to press.

We had a couple efforts on goal but couldn’t convert. We paid the price. A break earned Ash a corner. The inswinger was allowed to bounce in the box. A toe Poke and we were one down with 5 minutes of normal time left of the half.

We hit back with a Kerr volley from just outside the box hitting the post and then Storey putting the rebound over the bar.

Laxity gave an opportunity for an acute angled shot to make it 0-2 on the whistle.

Fishlock made way for Matthews in a formation shuffle with 16 minutes gone. But we still couldn’t seem to impact on the score line.

We continued firing blanks until Joe Smith capitalised with a low volley making it 1-2.

We went for broke and gave Ash defence a torrid last few minutes but left the ground handing over 3 points on the whistle.
