5 minutes on the clock and Bailey Tabor’s lob over the keeper drifted over the bar.
Cowes, stung by the close call pushed on and carved out an opening giving an opportunity 15 yards out. Reece Mitchell made a great save diving to his left and holding a difficult shot.
20 minutes gone and Cowes broke broke free. Shouts from the pitch and stands claimed an offside but it fell on deaf ears. The clear run resulted in an opener for the home side. 0-1.
25 minutes a Sumer cross found Carswell on the back post but a snap shot flew wide.
Good football from both teams made it a good match for spectators and despite the difference in league status we matched the hosts.
A marauding Smith carved an opening towards the end of the half but put a fierce shot over the bar.
The half closed with Cowes catching us on the break but put the ball high and wide.

Within a minute of the re start Cowes had a chance to increase their lead but Mitchell went down low on the post to make a good save.
McHale and Storey split Cowes defence on our left, a low cross was inches wide of McWilliams toes.
We continued to push up. Cowes caught us with a counter but again Mitchell was well placed to take a clean catch just under the bar.
The game see sawed but with 15 minutes of the half gone Cowes made it 0-2 with a good move finishing with a chip over an advancing Mitchell.
We retaliated well. An energy surge produced shots from Fishlock and McMonagle before Carswell stepped in and planted an unstoppable volley past the keeper 1-2.
Towers and Broad were busy in the last few minutes stemming attacks from the flanks but the whistle went with Cowes going through to the next round of the Vase.
