Millbrook were out of their starting blocks while we were still in the land of nod. A goal in the first two minutes set the scene and then on 12 minutes we conceded another. It looked as if Millbrook were in for a goal fest.
Storey and Fishlock broke through a tight defence but the keeper wasn’t tested as the final shot flew over the bar.
We rallied but didn’t have the same resilient streak as in recent games. We buckled again with 29 minutes gone. 0-3.
Josh Haynes saved more blushes snatching a goal a couple of minutes later. 1-3. The goal injected some adrenalin and some good football followed.
We pushed on testing the Millbrook back line but they held firm and the whistle went at half time with an adverse score line…1-3
Half Time. 1-3
We looked a a lot better at the start of the second half with Carswell architect of a couple of attacks but we then gave away a penalty. 1-4.
No heads dropped despite the score line.
We rallied. Mason and Tabor linked to split the Millbrook defence, a Tabor cross was inches away from Fishlock’s toes.
Davis and Broad came under pressure but curbed Millbrook’s efforts on the flanks with close marking.
Bailey Tabor announced his debut with our second of the game giving the keeper no chance with a well placed volley. 2-4.
We were back in the game. Out attacking play improved and half way through the half had a penalty award. Usually Carswell would have buried it in the back of the net. This time … nowt down.
The game went end to end but the score board remained unchanged on the whistle.
Result 2-4.
