Match played at Blandford School, 3G pitch)

Gillingham went into a huddle just before kick-off to devise plans B C & D when the team sheet showed Callum Crockard on the bench. Our marauding centre back needed to be curtailed should he come on.

It was a half full of incident during which we had enough chances to put the game to bed but lacked extra punch in front of the sticks.

Regan Mason went close a couple of times and a rasping effort from Jack Broad deserved more than a clipped bar.

Jake Carswell and Josh Haynes stepped up to do the business though, scoring one each and despite a momentary lapse in defence which allowed Gillingham access into the box to grab a goal we went in at half time 2-1 ahead

Max Mason Cam Smith Connor Mahoney all got minutes as Darren and Danny rotated the squad.

We pressurised Gillingham but couldn’t turn an attacking flair into goals.

Tyler Disson couldn’t do anything about Gillingham’s second goal stemming from a counter attack but made sure there wasn’t any more celebrations from our opposition with a fine display.

A penalty miss meant we didn’t take the lead again and so the game was played out with the final score…
