Match Report Andover Town vs Verwood Town 29-Mar-22
WESSEX LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
SATURDAY 29TH MARCH 2022
ANDOVER TOWN 1 VERWOOD TOWN 1
Miserable weather and a Tuesday night trip to Andover wasn’t the most exciting experience to look forward to. We had a few changes but again reliable ones.
It was an early test for the back four of Jack Broad Lewis Freak Ollie Osborne and Cam Smith as Andover pushed forward. Good solid performances kept the score board quite. A couple of efforts from outside the box landed in Pete O’Connors safe hands.
We worked hard up front with Bradley again proving a danger to Andovers defence. Pressure mounted and a good move ending in the six yard box was turned past the keeper by a Quarchioni / defender deflection. 1-0.
Hall and Waters created a chance for Carswell but the home keeper prevented an increased score line with a great save.
The half closed with Verwood ahead.
1-0.
A few strong words in the Andover dressing room at half time fired up their forwards but again we matched resolve.
We lost ground mid way through the half but held a defensive shield keeping hopes of a three pointer alive. We finally cracked though and Andover celebrated a leveller. 1-1.
We had hard luck in the closing stages but Andover’s defence managed to block Carswell and Bradley’s efforts.
A hard earned point was a reward for a great team effort.
Result. 1-1
