Several late changes to the squad had to be made due to work, a couple of injuries and other commitments but we looked forward to testing our enforced re shape.

Within a minute of the whistle we had a free kick but put it over the bar. A couple of minutes later. Hall Stock and Bradley created an opportunity but Walters low shot was comfortably taken by the keeper.

We continued to press but also continued to fire blanks in the box.

A counter in the 23rd minute taught us how to put the ball away when a half chance was offered. 0-1.

We were still on top of the game but trailing 0-1 when the Ref blew for half time.

For the first ten minutes of the second half we looked as if we could claw back the deficit but again lacked that finishing touch in front of the sticks.

11 minutes gone and a lack of concentration punished us allowing a runner to drift past a static defence making it 0-2.

Hall Bradley and Summers worked a good opening half way through the half but the finish only 15 yards out told the story of the day. No one to put the ball in the net.

Substitutions made no difference to the performance as the game fizzled out.

Another cock up in defence with a couple of minutes left gave Ash a flattered score line but they were a happier bunch leaving the ground with three points gifted.

It was a long road back to Verwood.
