Romsey’s usual rapid start was to be expected. Webber back tracked to help Watkins deal with the early attack.
A minute later a hopeful Romsey shot from the edge of the box tested Taylor but was capably dealt with.
A Cooper chip released Gray but an offside flag stopped the chance of going ahead.
Dickenson, alongside Burt in a central shuffle got under a couple of hopeful high balls into our box and with Burt’s strong presence we looked quite solid.
Romsey tried a switch to midfield play but on the day it was a Hall and Cooper territory blocking Romsey’s approach.
Webber’s cross half way through the half was met by Gajic a few yards out but Romseys keeper made an exceptional save.
10 minutes to go and Meddah whipped a great cross into the box for Vining to follow up. A half volley was blocked and cleared off the line.
A quick counter and we got caught short leaving enough room for a high ball into the box that slipped under the bar. 0-1.
Half Time 0-1.
Our half time chat worked. Good movement created space in the middle and Gajic took pleasure in enjoying a bit of space to tuck the ball past the keeper. 1-1.
Tails up we slung several attacks together giving Romsey’s defence a torrid time.
Webber worked the right flank and a ball into the box was snapped up by Vining. Good feet and the ball whistled past the keeper to put us ahead. 2-1.
Gray made it 3-1 following up a Meddah run on goal and nipped round the full back to tap the ball past the keeper. 3-1.
The whistle went on a good game and a deserved 3 points.
Result 3-1.
