Match Report Verwood Town vs Dorchester Town 05-Jan-20
DORSET WOMENS LEAGUE
SUNDAY 5TH JANUARY 2020
VERWOOD TOWN 0 DORCHESTER TOWN 7
Ladies took on Top of the League opposition in Dorchester Ladies for their 1st game of 2020.
Was not the best game draw to play after a month off and a sluggish festive period however the team went in with the usual positive attitude.
Dorch had a lot of the possession of the game and didnt take too long to get the opener in the 6th minute.
Another goal from Dorch on the 10 minute mark gave them confidence but also gave Verwood a chance to bounce back and suddenly kicked into gear.
Found some through balls over the defence and a hard working midfield driving out on the counter 4 or 5 times down the wings but sadly no end product for the efforts.
Some good defending and saves from the GK kept the opposition at bay for 20 mins until the half hour mark when Dorch slotted the 3rd goal home.
Another period of stability and a few efforts saw Sammie hit one of the post from a long ranging effort and unlucky not to pull one back.
Dorch grabbed the 4th just before halftime on 44th minute taking a 4-0 lead into the break.
Verwood continued to battle in the 2nd half and had a few speculative chances hitting the corner of the post and crossbar and exploiting some
wing play but it was the opposition adding to their tally on 60, 83 and 87 to make it 7 -0 full time
Well done to Player's player Rebecca Spring and Manager's player award to Ellie Liddiard. Both acheived for work rate, fight and team spirit.
