Alresford’s goal on 28 minutes was defended by stubborn back four that propelled them into the next round of the Vase.

We had chances but failed to convert them. Football quality was good from both teams so it was an entertaining game for spectators.

In the last few minutes we rallied and should have drawn level with good attack but suffered in watching the ball go over the top.

Half Time 0-1.

The second half produced some thrills and spills at both ends but on the night it was Alresford digging in to block efforts on goal that was the difference.

Alresford’s resilience at Potterne was carbon copied on the night and it paid dividends.

We wish Alresford every success in the competition.

Result 0-1.

Trophy games ended with this defeat so it’s now League fixtures to the end of the season.

This coming Saturday we play East Cowes at Potterne and will be trying hard to convert a few chances.
