We were sluggish from the whistle. Poor marking and lack of commitment gave Fawley time and space. Fawley looked sharper and tested Lynch with a couple of shots early on.
5 minutes and a free kick was well held by Lynch. A high punt upfield landed just outside the Fawley area but we had no one following up. The keeper gathered and a long clearance landed for a runner to go free and chip an advancing Lynch 0-1. Fawley got what they deserved.
We struggled to get into the game. A brief hopeful burst on 21 minutes saw Gale deliver a deep cross but Kelly headed over.
8 minutes we forced a scramble claims that the ball crossed the line were brushed aside by the ref.
40 minutes and terrible defending let in another runner 0-2.
Half Time 0-2
Half Time substitutions meant Jaco giving way for Joe Manley and Ryan Kelly giving Matt Vining a run.
The half time chat worked with more urgency being shown and after only 3 minutes Davis went clear but only to hammer his volley just over the bar.
Dyer and Browning linked to send Gale free on the right. A cross found Manley but yet again the ball went wide of the post.
Fawley’s route one had Watkins and O’Hare at full stretch for a time but Glatzel and Manley supported well and we survived a couple of onslaughts.
55 min and Turner did well to shrug off a strong challenge chipping defenders to send Gale free. A good shot was well held by the keeper.
67 min gone and Turner made way for Lench. The game see sawed but we were still way off our best. Fawley then had a 10 minute domination during which Lynch made a brilliant save from an equally brilliant shot from the edge of our box.
Davis went close with a volley and then Lench broke through but only to cross on to the roof of the net.
It was a poor performance overall giving Fawley an easy 3 points.
