Match Report Blackfield vs Verwood Town 8-Nov-16
WESSEX LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
TUESDAY 8TH NOVEMBER 2016
BLACKFIELD & LANGLEY 4 VERWOOD TOWN 0
Gilbert had a good chance to put us one up in the first couple of minutes but put his angled shot wide of the post.
Phelps and Smith toiled away in the middle and with Bergin and Kimber on the flanks developed several promising attacks.
B&L though were solid at the back and gave little away. Good running off the ball and a good understanding between players kept us on our toes. Evans and Anderton did well against an inventive forward line but when B&L did get through a very capable Benfield kept the sheet clean.
Just on half time Benfield made the best save of the half when the ball was worked in from the left and a low cross was hammered low for the bottom corner. A flying save palming the ball away from safety saw the half finish at 0-0.
Half Time 0-0
Dare and Gajic prevented an attack through the middle and Dare's pass wide to Kimber created space for a run on goal. We couldn't get past a very competent defence.
A corner on 57 minutes and a series of ping-pong headers finished with the ball bouncing into the corner of the net. 0-1. 5 minutes later 0-2 as another comedy of errors in the area finished with a half shot skipping past Benfield.
Dare had to come off with a knee problem half way through the half and Ben Cane went one for one.
We looked half as fit as the B&L team and the game drifted into a Verwood defensive shield attempting to block attacks.
Benfield was busy advertising his competence whilst in front of him Donachy and Gajic wasted no time clearing anything spelling danger.
A fit and an eager B&L side proved too much for us so 67 minutes and 84 minutes had the scoreboard elevating a B&L dominance late in the half.
Result 0-4
