Report
Again with the number of players unavailable, we would have been
short if we weren't in a position to raid the first team
squad. Unfortunately for us, the 1st team squad had a bonding
night in Bournemouth on the Friday and it showed in the first
half with us looking decidedly vulnerable in defence and we were
two goals down within the first ten minutes. We rallied a bit and
looked dangerous when attacking and despite having chances we
conceded a third after half an hour.
We "scored" soon after with a good move having Mika
Dronyk coming in from the left flank to put the ball over the
line, which was then hacked clear, the referee presumably
wasn't sure and looked to the Club linesman for verification.
Need I say more?
We did though register a goal 5 minutes before half time when
Charlie beat their keeper to a through ball and was left to tap
the ball into an empty net. Half time came and we were upbeat
that we could rescue the situation and pulled another goal back
in the first couple of minutes of the second half, when Jack
Mills was up ended in their box and Charlie duly despatched the
penalty. It's probably my fault because I didn't say to
the players if we score make sure we are not hit by the sucker
punch of conceding straight away afterwards. But that's what
happened and we were 4-2 down. The second half was a role
reversal with us attacking and dominating the play but they still
looked dangerous on the break and Ben Daniels was faced with two
or three one on ones which he saved all of them. Twenty five
minutes in and Tristan Dorey pulled another goal back for us. For
the remainder of the game we pressed forward, Jack Mills hit the
bar, Josh Goncalves hit a screamer of a shot which whistled
agonisingly wide, but we just couldn't get the deserved
equaliser.
Dorset Knob are still top and unbeaten. We have played them twice
now and both games been unlucky but in the end you can't give
a team a two goal start!
