Report
This week only 8 changes from the team the week before! Rossgarths under 18 keeper Ben Daniels was called up to help us out and we went with quite a strong side to lay battle with the current league leaders.
The first twenty minutes was totally dominated by us, with Paul Stephens making their keeper make a smart save from a right footed shot, Andy Munson perhaps should have done better with a header from 8 yards out which he put wide and although not many chances were made we were passing the bal around well on a
small pitch with an awful playing surface. The second part of the first half was more even and Ben had to make a good block at his near post. Again due to height advantage corners and free kicks were causing us problems, but we are becoming more adept at dealing with them. The opening goal was very fortunate, when from the right wing their midfielder put in a dangerous cross which Pete Eyre managed to connect with and it flew into the bottom corner of our net.
We were disappointed at half time as we didn't deserve to be a goal down.
However within the first minute of the second half we were two down. Their attack was headed clear only to fall to one of their players who completely sliced his shot which deceived everyone and flew into our goal.
To our credit we immediately responded and for the remainder of the game attacked their goal. We scored the best goal of the match when a flowing move ended with Matt Newbury placing a powerful shot into their net. Further chances fell to Matt, Karl Foster, John Homer but we didn't manage to breach their defences again.
So yet again a promising performance but another odd goal defeat. I am not often one to complain about luck, but this match was one that we deserved to win, even a draw would have felt like an injustice!
