Report
I am sure everyone will agree that this was a major improvement on our first match performance. We played as a team, we battled and we stuck to the game plan. I am grateful for the work behind the scenes put in by Bunce and Galer, who helped the players to keep focused .
I can't criticise any of the players, they all played well. The game itself had few goal scoring chances and being truthful Pennington had the better of those, but a combination of woeful finishing and two outstanding saves by Colin Randall stopped our goal line from being breached.
Playing with two up front, the work rate of Tom and Matt was impressive and given time I feel these two can make an excellent pairing who will work any defence in this league.
Our back four were outstanding superbly led by Ben Giles who individually had a superb match. In fact the whole spine of the team was impressive with Martin Newbury being the best player on the park.
So a point gained rather than two lost. It still looks like it's going to be a long hard slog this campaign, especially with the abnormal amount of injuries the Club has at the moment, but if we can keep the points board ticking over, we should be OK.
