My grass at home needs cutting and I wished I'd stayed to do it rather than watching this performance.

The first game of the season and we appeared to have forgotten how to compete at this level. The 1st half we were lucky to only be one down, we allowed ourselves to be beaten in every challenge, pushed off the ball, we didn't (apart from kicking off) string two passes together and all in all we were awful.

Yes we had key players missing but at times you'd have thought we'd put out 11 strangers on the field.

It has to be mentioned here that Colin Randall made some excellent saves which kept the scoreline down.

The 2nd half was an improvement but the concerns were that we struggled to look like scoring. The effort was 200% better but we lacked cohesion to look like breaking them down. The one time we did string some passes together, new recruit Tom Hasluck's shot just skimmed the bar.

So, back to the drawing board and let's hope for a vast improvement in our next match on 20th September, where we are at home again, otherwise I fear that this could be a long hard season!
