Report
With the morning spent unsuccessfully trying to replace the
Referee, who had cried off due to work commitments, this report
will be short as I had enough trouble concentrating own my own
performance rather than the teams!
Pennington are good solid side, with a hardworking midfield and
they like to get the ball down and pass and move. In the end I
feel we matched them and a draw was a fair result. We welcomed
back Pete Hunt from a long injury Layoff and he put in a strong
performance, and it was he that opened the scoring after ten
minutes with a shot from just inside the box which beat their
keeper.
Twenty minutes later, Pennington equalised when a good run into
our box beating three defenders saw their forward equalising. A
frustrating goalto give away, but credit to the attacker.
Five minutes later, Lee Pidgley beat his fullback on the by-line
and was about to cross when he was felled. Martin Newbury took
the resulting Penalty, scoring in the corner. To equal things out
Pennington were awarded a penalty 5 minutes later, but an
excellent save by Coin Randal down to his left, saw 'Verwood
go in at half time leading 2-1.
Second half tivas a fairly even affair, but Pennington equalised
after 15 minutes. Thereafter the game was open with both sides
having opportunities to win the match. Adam Richmond made his
return from injury with 20 minutes to go, which was also good new
for the Club.
