Referee Cliff Platt put on his magnifying glasses, blew his whistle and Steve Norman rolled forward. Mike Eyres asked for a delayed pass and an inch perfect effort rolled past him. Arnold backed up and gliding past two Ressies slipped the ball to Nick Long. A burst of speed, a cross shot and Randall felt the wind of the ball as it sped past the post.

Simon Guy's left foot put Pharoah free and a deep cross was volleyed over by Gale.

Dorey broke through the middle but was met by Tubbs. He tried again and was met by Tubbs.
The third effort now means that Tristan is officially recognised as Verwood's first male Soprano.

Our Ressies were stung into action and Andy Martin did his best to beat Ashley Long but our ageing goalkeeping maestro had all the answers.

We hadn't planned on the psychological deviousness of the Ressies management. Distraction of the referee's attention by indicating there was a possibility of a collection for him, took his eye off the game momentarily, but long enough for Martin to score a blatant offside goal.

Billy Andrews called for a substitution and while Richards was making his way to the St. John's centre Martin sneaked in and claimed a second.

Hiscock came on and was soon in the thick of things. His link up with Tony Pharoah cracked open a frail defence and in swept Gale to finish off the move with a right foot rocket from all of 25 yards that flew into the top corner.

Martin Newbury scored a good goal so the real score should have been 1-1 rather than the 4-1 recorded by the Munson committee.

Rapid Response crews were at full stretch. Oxygen tents were full but the sad thing to record was a lack of volunteers for mouth to mouth resuscitation.

Everyone able to stand or be carried retired quickly to Hazel and Debbie's Kitchen at The Sporting Club for a dollop of Curry and Pasta. This turned out to be the highlight of the escapade.
