At last a league match so has to be another draw!
Pennington were placed second in the league having been knocked off the top spot the weekend before. Therefore we knew it would be tough and it wasn't helped when we had 3 players withdrawing 24 hours before the match.

Never the less, our spirit and performance got us a point, although with the 2nd half onslaught we had to face, we were perhaps fortunate to get the draw.

First half was end to end stuff and enjoyable to watch with both teams trying hard to play football on the deck. We were the better side for the first half hour and deserved to take the lead, when a poor clearance by a defender left their goalkeeper out of position and Tristan Dorey, hit a shot with his right foot from 25 yards which nestled in the bottom corner of the net.

Pennington then came into the match for the final 10 minutes of the half and their passing and moving style, with their central midfielders running beyond the forwards was causing us problems. Tactical talk at half time, where we told the lads to work together as two rows of 4 and to hold their positions rather than be dragged around all over the place, seemed at times to be a back line of 8, however, we restricted their chances to a minimum, despite the fact we hardly ever got out of our half.

Pennington brought on another 2 forwards and this gave us a couple of chances to break forward and look menacing, but on the whole we were under the cosh.

Their equaliser came from a corner with 12 minutes to go a header at the far post. At this time we feared the worse, but credit again to our band of players we dug in and if anything came more into the game for the last 10 minutes.

A good draw for us against a strong team shows that we are becoming hard to beat. Next couple of games are Cup matches and then we return to Potterne on December 15th to play the league leaders!
