Match Report Verwood Town vs Wimborne Town 09-Jul-24
STEVE MOORE MEMORIAL TROPHY
TUESDAY 9TH JULY 2024
VERWOOD TOWN 0 WIMBORNE TOWN 4
Our annual battle for the Steve Moore Trophy offers both teams an opportunity to give all squad players a run out. This game saw full use of the facility.
The first half finished with a 0-0 score line. Good defensive cover from both sides restricted opportunities. What did filter through our defence gave Mitchell a bit of practice but with Kerr Danvers Pope and Ferguson on form the score board was unemployed.
Half Time. 0-0
New introductions to the game were made at half time. The settling in period was brief for Wimborne but stretched for us.
Wimborne’s improved play proved positive with a goal in 15 minutes and quickly followed by a second to give them a comfortable edge.
We had a couple of good chances with Matthews and Brazier going close but couldn’t convert.
Ten minutes to go and Wimborne increased their comfort zone with a couple of opportunistic strikes leaving the score board reflecting another twelve months of Wimborne’s trophy retention.
Result. 0-4
