Match Report Verwood Town vs Hamworthy 27-Oct-2012

SYDENHAMS (WESSSEX) LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
SATURDAY 27TH OCTOBER 2012
VERWOOD TOWN 0 HAMWORTHY UNITED 1

Do you want to be bored ?
Do you want to be depressed ?
Then don't continue reading this.

Someone turning up for the first time attending a Sydenhams (Wessex) Premiership game would have been put off for life.

Hamworthy turned up with a very much depleted squad, and we turned up with only a couple missing. Our lineup was the same as that earning a point last week against Fareham.

A rousing dressing room team talk, some new tops and a team photograph before kick off. Wonderful stuff.

Hamworthy strolled down the right from the sound of the whistle. Kelly blocked the cross and slipped the ball to Hill. Hill's cross meant for Saxby, dropped short and the keeper won the race.

9 minutes and Saxby again was the mobile member of the team. A pass found Haskell Haskell held the ball up (saved him moving) and flicked on for Satterley. Satts hit the ball with his left foot. The keeper watched it bobble then casually gathered before walloping it back down to his forwards.

Half an hour passed and a noise from the stand gave belief that someone was awake. It was just someone catching their breath because of Sleep Apnoea.

Lynch was alert to attacks but even Hamworthy didn't have a lot to offer. A couple of token attacks were well covered and Delaney paired with Martin Smith didn't have anything too much to worry about.

The game was slow pace with a very nonchalant approach. Couple that to abysmal attacking moves and you have the reason for a Google search for a local psychiatrist.

A splurge of activity from Hamworthy made Lynch save a low hard shot and then race from his line to boot clear.

Evans cut out a threat down Hamworthy's left and a long ball fell between Hamworthy's back four and their area. Only a lone seagull was aware of the sudden appearance of the ball.

Both linesmen had put on about half a stone each by the time the whistle went.

Half Time 0-0.

Adie's scathing review of the first half was still echoing in the dressing room as the team stirred its stumps to reappear.

Haskell and Satterley defied the law of gravity lifting their feet to make progress into Hamworthy's area. The keeper had no difficulty in catching a looping shot.

52 minutes and Delaney headed clear then Smith got under another missile attack to repeat the Delaney clearance.

Saxby crossed and Haskell headed over the bar.

58 minutes and a slick attack from Hamworthy cut through a token defence. The following shot whipped up the net in the top corner. 0-1.

60 minutes Saxby came off to give Elysee a run. At least someone was coming on for a 'run'.

Then we were treated to a miss-passing game. We edged the contest.

10 minutes later Dyer got stuck in and a wide ball to Gajic opened up a gap. Gajic slid the ball inside to Satts. Satts on to Haskell and a shot this time on target unfortunately went straight to the keeper.

70 minutes and Satts came off to make room for Webb.

A spark of energy followed. Webb splayed the ball for Hill to have a shot at goal but a defender's header saved the keeper stretching.

84 minutes and we disturbed the nesting seagull. Kelly travelled down the left and a deep cross dropped just on the edge of the box for Webb to try a shot. A defender got in the way (or probably more to the point couldn't get out of the way) and the ball spun clear.

Haskell sent a pass wide for Hill and the cross was headed wide by Delaney.

We won a corner. We hadn't won much else. Over it came and Kelly this time won the climb but yet again the ball found its way into the bushes at the back of the goal.

Not much else happened as the game trudged to Hamworthy taking the three points.

Result 0-1
