Just when things are going wrong, the last thing you need is to have your squad decimated by injury and work commitments. With 14 players unavailable it was a case of travelling with the bare minimum as even our sub Shaun was carrying an injury and reckoned he wouldn't last more than 15 minutes.

Your whole trust has to therefore be placed in the 11 players you have available and they certainly did not let the Club down. We were dominant in the first half with some good football played in very warm conditions and it was only fair that we took the lead when Steve Reeves ghosted in at the far post with a header having been superbly picked out by a Coley corner. We held that lead up to half time.

The second half started with a fight back from Mudeford who perhaps should have equalised, but the next goal went our way with Steve Reeves latching onto a through ball. He was tackled on the edge of the box by both their keeper and the covering defender but the ball came out to Karl Foster who from 16 yards rolled the ball into the empty net. Karl was playing a lone game up front, supported when possible by an industrious 5 man midfield. At the back, Jon Homer put in a sterling performance as did Pete Eyre at centre back alongside Ben Giles.

Mudeford had little to lose now and were putting us under pressure; however their first goal a penalty was somewhat dubious. It looked to me that the striker kicked Jon's leg and went down, however the referee who had an excellent match saw it differently and awarded a spot kick. Colin almost saved it but we were now 2~1 up with 20 minutes to go.

They equalised about ten minutes later with a shot from outside the box which went into the top corner. Just before that Colin had made a wonderful finger tip save to keep us in the game.

Credit though to the lads because in the last 10 mins we looked the most likely to score and had a couple of chances but to no avail. In these conditions you'd want the benefit of a few sets of fresh legs to bring on but hey you can't have everything!
