Davies had an opportunity to put us ahead in only the second minute but his rising shot was blocked in the six yard box with the keeper going the wrong way. Chance gone.

Petersfield reacted instantly with a long ball down their left and an angled shot was well held under the bar by Haigh.

With 5 minutes on the clock a sweeping move down Petersfield’s right and a cross on the deck was slammed home to give a 0-1 score line.

Petersfield pressed forward and Dyer stemmed an attack with a great tackle. A pass found Stuttard,, on to Vint and his shot from the edge of the area was well saved by the keeper.

The game see sawed but we were now playing the better football of the two sides..

Taylor made a timely tackle, stopping encroachment into our area but his line ball was intercepted and another high ball into our box was monitored and competently dealt with by an in form Haigh.

Kelly grabbed Hero status with a forceful tackle taking the ball from a three player tussle. A pass inside and Dare shouldered off a tackle releasing Hall. Good feet and a delicate chip gave Davies an opportunity. No mistake – 1-1.

Finch had a punt on the whistle but the teams went in at half time 1-1.

We continued the second half with good football and Vinjt almost put us ahead with a low shot but that was deflected round the post. The corner was half cleared. Dare raced in but shot wide.

Stuttard gathered momentum as the half progressed and good link up play with Rutten put us outside the home sides area. Rutten rounded off the move with a cross that skimmed the bar.

We gave away a corner on 71 minutes. Dare cleared the ball off the line but the rebound fell for a free shot putting Petersfield ahead.

Petersfield pushed on. Haigh was excellent in his anticipation and handling leaving Petersfield frustrated.

We had a few opportunities in the closing stages but it was the home team going through to the next round with a 1-2 result.
