Match Report Merley Cobham vs Verwood Town 19-Jul-18

PRE-SEASON MATCH
THURSDAY 19TH JULY 2018
MERLEY COBHAM 1 VERWOOD TOWN 7

Despite a warm clammy atmosphere we started quickly with Haggan and Kimber springing an attack from Midfield. Cole’s cross found Gajic and a half volley whistled wide.

We continued pushing forward with Cobham looking for the counter. One attack got through but was capably dealt with by Daniels.

We had a spell of midfield play with Haggan and Kimber edging the battle. Haggan’s slide rule pass on 15 minutes released Davies for a crack at goal. The side netting suffered.

Cobham worked hard and played some attractive football but anything they tried down the middle was stopped stone dead by a Browning and Pierson combination.

Dyer and Mills found time to produce overlapping runs causing Cobham to defend desperately.

Then Gajic stepped up to hit a hat trick. Kimber, not to be outdone slammed in a fourth for a half time score line of 4-0.

Half Time 4-0

Cobham’s half time talk produced a quick start and a ball into our box could have been a problem had it not been for an alert Pierson. Pierson’s control was first class and good feet took him free of attackers. Cole received a pass at feet and made ground. A deep cross and Kimber was inches wide of grabbing his second of the game.

Matt Vining didn’t miss though slamming in our fifth of the game.

Kimber then stole in to get his well deserved second of the game as we romped to a 6-0 score line.

All credit to the home side as they pushed forward from the kick off with no heads dropping. We were pushed back but held tight.

The mid field then had the action but on the day we proved the better side and pressure paid dividends with an attack that forced an own goal. 7-0

Cobham grabbed a consolation but on the day we justified a score line and :-

Result 7-1
