Match Report Verwood Town vs Ringwood Town 16-Sep-17

SYDENHAMS LEAGUE (WESSEX) DIVISION ONE
SATURDAY 16th SEPTEMBER 2017
VERWOOD TOWN 3 RINGWOOD TOWN 7

Apathy reigned. No desire & no pride heralded a dreadful performance against Ringwood.

7 minutes into the game Ryan Kelly hit a 25 yarder the keeper found difficulty in holding so we went ahead 1-0. Ringwood had to wait 60 seconds for us to roll over and let them in for a bundled goal. 1-1.

Martin Smith had to come off with 10 minutes gone so Kris Anderton dropping into the back four. Max Fletcher came on and went wide left.

We watched a move down our left and looked on in admiration as the ball fell on the penalty spot where a toe ender tipped it past Dennis. 1-2.

24 minutes we deserted the box and left it wide open for Ringwood to score their third with a well placed shot from six yards. 1-3.

27 minutes we looked like a colander as we dropped off players and a grateful Ringwood went through the middle. It was like Moses parting the Red Sea. 1-4.

It was a good job Will Dennis was alert. A double raid with 3 minutes left could have made it 6 but good hands kept the score at 1-4 when the ref blew his whistle.

Half Time 1-4

We kicked off where we left off. The ball was always a Ringwood 'win' and we relinquished the middle of the park giving Ringwood total dominance.

65 minutes gone and poor marking let in a runner. 1-5.

67 minutes yet again no tackles and a runner … 1-6.

Then we had a flurry of activity. 73 minutes and Manley stole in to plant the ball past the keeper. 2-6

A minute later Gale followed in on a crossed ball hammering it into the bottom corner. 3-6.

Ecstasy remained with the tablet and not feelings. 79 minutes we returned to normality and a runner slipped past central defenders to put number 7 past a despairing Will Dennis. 3-7.

James Bergin replaced Ryan Kelly on 81 minutes but the teams went in at 90 minutes with the score in Ringwood's favour.

Result 3-7
